True Internet Data Center, or True IDC, has broken ground on its seventh data centre in Northern Bangkok, backed by an investment of more than THB6 billion (US$182 million).
The Thailand-based data centre and cloud services provider, part of Charoen Pokphand Group, said the facility will support rising demand for cloud and AI infrastructure.
The project is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2027.
True IDC said the investment forms part of its broader plan to expand digital infrastructure in Thailand as the country looks to build out its AI economy.
“Today, Cloud and AI are crucial mechanisms and engines driving and enhancing business competitiveness,” said Thanasorn Jaidee, managing director of True IDC.
Demand for AI infrastructure is rising across the Asia-Pacific, but many businesses still face challenges accessing hyperscale infrastructure for advanced workloads.
He added that AI and GenAI investment in the region is expected to grow fivefold to THB11 trillion by 2029, with an average annual growth rate of 38.4%. The Northern Bangkok facility is being designed to support high-density processing and network connectivity for Thai and international customers.
The Northern Bangkok data centre is being developed for hyperscale and AI workloads, with access to one of Thailand’s main network hubs for domestic and international data exchange.
True IDC said the site will support cloud, AI, and digital platforms that require high-density processing and low-latency connectivity.
The facility will use modular construction and is designed to support both CPU and GPU workloads, with air and liquid cooling options. It will also include main and backup power systems, network security and disaster-resilience measures.
True IDC said the seventh data centre project forms part of its plan to expand Thailand’s digital infrastructure and support data sovereignty.
The facility is expected to help strengthen Thailand’s role as a regional digital infrastructure hub.
