Africa is a uniquely diverse continent with 54 countries, 16 of which are landlocked. Unfortunately, 14 of these landlocked countries rank low on the Human Development Index. Also, around 54% of Africa’s population lives in rural areas across a vast and often hard-to-reach landmass with varied complex terrain.
