German digital infrastructure players join in national fibre investment push

Intended partnership is still subject to customary regulatory approvals in Germany.

NGN Fiber Network KG (NGN) and Eurofiber, have established a partnership for the German market, bringing complementary capabilities to further expand and commercialise NGN’s national fibre network.

NGN is a German dark fibre provider owning and operating a nationwide long-haul and metropolitan fibre network across 52 cities including Munich, Leipzig, Halle, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Erfurt and Berlin.

Eurofiber a digital infrastructure operator providing network infrastructure on an open access basis to telecom operators, companies, government bodies and non-profit organisations with its 38,000 km fibre optic network across the Netherlands, Belgium, France and stretching into Germany.

Together, NGN and Eurofiber will seek to accelerate the expansion of NGN’s network in order to address increasing demand for fibre infrastructure with a nationwide network to be accessible to all German telecom operators, other network operators, multi-national corporations and enterprises in an open and non-discriminatory manner.

Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater PartG mbB are acting as exclusive financial and legal advisors to NGN respectively.

Perella Weinberg Partners and Latham & Watkins LLP are acting as financial and legal advisors to Eurofiber respectively.
