Nigeria’s MainOne has officially brought online a new data centre in the capital of neighbouring Ghana.
The Appolonia Data Center, part of MainOne’s subsidiary MDXi, built in Accra has been designed to cater to the increasing demand for colocation and interconnection services by multinationals and businesses seeking shared services for their ICT resources across West Africa.

The 100+ rack facility was open by Emmanuel Kwarteng, Country Manager, MainOne Ghana; Solomon Asamoah, CEO, GIIF; Funke Opeke, CEO, MainOne; Veronica Rita Sackey, Director, PPBME, Ministry Of Communications; Africanus Mensah, Board Chairman, MainOne Ghana; Olusola Ogundimu, Board Member, MainOne Ghana; and Gbenga Adegbiji, COO, MDXi.
Mensah said: “Ghana has waited for a premium and world-class facility with the capabilities of the data centre that we are launching today at MDXi Appolonia City.

The data centre is linked various Internet Exchanges including the GIX (Ghana), IXPN (Nigeria), LINX (London), DE-CIX (Frankfurt/Lisbon), and Cote d’Ivoire Internet Exchange (CIVIX), as well as the West Africa Internet Exchange (WAF-IX).
