Tecto's Commercial Director, André Busnardo, discusses the company's US$1 billion expansion plan, new projects, and strategies to meet Brazil's growing digital infrastructure demands.
Speaking to The Tech Capital at PTC’25 in Honolulu, André Busnardo, Commercial Director of Tecto Data Centers, shared details on the company’s ambitious plans and strategic vision for Brazil’s data centre landscape. Building upon the foundation laid in the first part of the interview, where Busnardo elucidated the factors contributing to Brazil’s growing appeal for international data centre investments, this second instalment delves deeper into Tecto’s projects, strategies, and the company’s role in shaping Latin America’s digital infrastructure.
Central to the discussion was Tecto’s US$1 billion expansion plan for Santana de Parnaíba. Busnardo elaborated on the key milestones and expected outcomes of this significant investment, stressing how it aligns with the company’s broader vision for data centre infrastructure in Brazil. The project, he explained, is a testament to Tecto’s commitment to meeting the escalating demand for robust digital infrastructure in Latin America’s largest economy.
Busnardo also shed light on Tecto’s strategy of combining edge and hyperscale data centres. He elucidated how this dual focus allows Tecto to cater to diverse client needs, from low-latency edge computing requirements to large-scale data processing capabilities.
The interview touched upon Tecto’s projects, including the Big Lobster project in Fortaleza and the upcoming Mega Lobster. Busnardo provided insights into how these projects fit into Tecto’s overall strategy and discussed the technological advancements being implemented, particularly in the Mega Lobster project.
A significant portion of the conversation revolved around Tecto’s commitment to sustainability. Busnardo detailed the company’s partnerships for 100% renewable energy generation, explaining how these collaborations align with Tecto’s sustainability goals. He also discussed additional energy efficiency measures being implemented in new projects to address the data centre industry’s notorious high energy consumption.
The interview also explored Tecto’s role in connecting South America to the global digital infrastructure. Busnardo articulated how the company leverages Brazil’s geographic and economic position to facilitate this connectivity.
