Europe is facing a capacity crunch in data center provision. Real estate firm, Savills, has identified a significant shortfall in the development pipeline for data centers needed to meet predicted demand: it estimates that the number of facilities will need to more than double by 2025. Much has been written about the scarcity of suitable land, the difficulties in securing power, and the ongoing skills shortage. But unless the industry does a better job in bringing local authorities and communities on-side, these headwinds will only be exacerbated.
