You can also read The Tech Capital in 'dark mode'

The Tech Capital offers its readers a "dark mode" version of the site. The "dark mode" allows news to be read with (even) more comfort - and saves battery power.

No, The Tech Capital has not gone over to the dark side of any force. The dark mode is a functionality that allows you to change the visual configuration of the site to a darker shade, instead of having it, by definition, in white with most of the text in black. By activating this option on the website – both on a desktop or mobile – The Tech Capital has become the first digital infrastructure media outlet globally to introduce dark mode.

Some latest generation smartphones (Android and iOS systems) already have the dark mode option incorporated into their systems, as do the most recent Apple devices. Google, through its Google Chrome browser, also allows surfing in this mode, as well as some apps, such as Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Slack, Twitter and Skype. A trend that is here to stay.

To activate or deactivate “dark mode”, visit the frontpage and scroll to under the opinion section on the right-hand side of the screen where you will find a button with the needed functionality.

The advantages of the dark mode

Dark mode may have advantages for those who read – and for the devices on which they read:

  • It’s more comfortable, especially in dark environments;
  • By allowing you to avoid looking at bright, intense, permanent light, which can cause a lot of strain, it minimises eye fatigue;
  • It improves the legibility of the text;
  • Allows up to 30% battery savings in OLED screens.

On The Tech Capital website, this is an option that can be activated and deactivated according to your convenience. So, you can choose to continue reading your news as you always have – with a white background – or alternate with dark mode.
