Skybox Datacenters has unveiled plans for a 30 megawatt (MW), 189,000-square-foot facility in the famous Midwest data centre destination of Elk Grove Village in Chicago.

The Chicago market is one of the US’ primary peering and interconnection hubs featuring proximity to cloud providers and exchanges as well as substantial network availability to major metros.

The new Skybox Chicago I data centre is located 22 miles from downtown Chicago and nine miles from O’Hare International Airport.

The facility is designed to allow users to benefit from the Illinois Sales Tax Incentives approved and implemented in October of 2019.

These tax exemptions apply to both data centre construction and purchased IT equipment.

Skybox Powered by Prologis, a logistics real estate firm, is a new joint-venture focused on developing key assets in primary data centre markets.
