US data centre rents jump 5.9% amidst tight market conditions

Significant preleasing - especially by hyperscalers - of space under construction in recent years has contributed to a large drop in vacancy rates which has also pushed costs up.

Tight market conditions have caused average asking rents to increase in both US primary markets (5.9 percent to $127.50 per kW) and secondary markets (2.3 percent to $133.00 per kW) for the first time since 2017.
